LONDON -- Greek-based broadcaster Antenna Group has inked a strategic partnership with influential U.S. youth brand Vice Media, giving the company a foothold across Greece and southeast Europe.
The plan is for the two to unite to launch bureaus, digital-content channels and linear television programming in the region.
The partnership comes ahead of the launch of the Vice News channel, a global online platform, and strategically offers a hub in the heart of a region where Vice has sourced some of its stories.
Antenna will allow Vice to produce content in the region in digital media as well as broadcast and print, with a focus on local news, culture, music, fashion, travel, sports and technology.
Vice recently opened an office in Athens and has hired a team of journalists and producers to launch a network of domestic video-driven and editorial-content channels, with translated programming produced for both domestic and international audiences.
Vice.com will launch in the region "in the coming weeks with a series of locally produced, original content pieces covering news, culture and travel," the parties said.
The partnership will expand from Greece to include countries across the Balkans.
Vice currently operates in 35 countries and manages a network of digital channels featuring video programming and editorial dedicated to news, music, culture, technology, sports and fashion.
It also operates a suite of YouTube channels and syndicates content to TV networks and portals across the world.
